Feather Beds and Witches....

I finished the basic box for the bed. I still have to make some handles for pulling it out and maybe little wheels on the sides to make it easier. It is still unfinished wood also.

Tessie is getting anxious to try it out.

I did the mattress this morning. The bed will not be made and unmade much, so I am going the route of balsa with padding.

Here you can see that I simply cut out a piece the size of the box, minus space for blankets. I put a double layer of high loft batting on top and then wrapped it like a package.

When I finished it, I stuck it in the box to see about fit. I am thinking that it is sticking up to high...I may try a narrower piece of balsa. This was 1/2". I may go down to 3/8". I am debating tufting it also.

Right now it is just a little more firm that I would like it to be. Goofy Pig doesn't even make a dent in it when he bounces on it. He should sink down into it.

That is probably all of the progress that I will make today....

There is a party to plan. The witches are coming here tomorrow for our annual Halloween lunch.I need to go do some more decorating.

I have already made tote bags. Here's a sneak peek. Tessie is playing up to the skeletons that are attached. I keep having to fish her out of the bags because she knows that there are already a few goodies inside.

We bring a small gift for each member of the group and they get dropped in the tote bags. The afternoon is filled with good eats and fun treats. We usually have at least one mini class.

You probably won't see a lot of me tomorrow, but I promise to pop in with a mini treat or two for you.

See you then.

Wow Casey the bed looks great already and it's not even finished. Looks pretty comfy too.. although I have to admit even I like a bed that you can sink down into. No problem for you to change that though I imagine!

Looking forward to seeing the treats tomorrow!

I love that bed! I never thought of that idea. Of course that is why I do forums and blog--to get ideas for my own houses.
Your Halloween party sounds so fun.

Nice bed Casey. Those fans are very easy to find here. I always keep one on hand but your bed is the best!

Love to see all of the ways you are using those wooden fans. The bed looks great. I've never seen a bouncing pig. Do you think you could capture that on video?
Wish I could come to your witches party! I'm sure you will all have loads of fun. :D

Katie, Tessie already has a lacemaker's pillow and stand. My friend Jo made it years ago. I never had a scene to put it in. Thanks for the idea!
