Obsessive/compulsive that I am about rugs, I couldn't resist counting the stitches in the brown one this morning. The above number is correct....14,168 stitches in that measley little rug.... I probably have between six and seven thousand done so far.
Tessie is back watching like a hawk. It's another one of those cases where she doesn't care what I am working on, as long as it is for her benefit.
The colors seem to be coming out pretty true to the original....Actually, there are only five colors in the whole rug so it's going pretty fast. Boring but fast. I will be running out of the pinkish tan color on the left side very shortly. Tomorrow will call for a run to Michael's or Joanne's.
"Oh! Look! A zebra skin rug. I want one of those too!"......I knew I should have hidden that one.
OK. I couldn't resist going back and getting it from the Peerless site..... Then I couldn't resist tracing it on congress cloth..... Then I couldn't resist trying out a few stitches in one corner......
Rugs are like cupcakes.... You can't make just one....
At least there are a lot of rooms in the townhouse that need them. I have resolved to finish these two or three before starting more. Honest. I have.....
Back to work.
Six thousand, four hundred & twenty one..... Six thousand, four hundred & twenty two..... Six thousand, four hundred & twenty three......
This is like counting sheep....
See you tomorrow....Six thousand, four hundred & twenty four...........

Omg - I was thinking of making a rug myself, but after that stich count I think I'll pass... :D
The rugs look fab, you've been super fast with them.
And the squirrel is cute, I had to make the pic bigger as it looks like in the small pic that you have a gravel beach and the wall is water :D
What cute little friend you have there!
You ARE obsessive about these rugs and VERY GOOD at it too!
Maybe I should reconsider making my bird of paradise rug? It "only" has 10,000 total...
Come on ladies! I need company. It's a very relaxing part of minis. No sawing or measuring. Just stitch after stitch. With a great reward at the end....
That is a lot of stitches!
I haven't stitched in years...
They're going to look awesome.
I am so happy you did not count the stitches on the rug pattern you put on here April of 09. Thats the one I am making right now...dont want to know how many stitches and I still have the background to do!!! Thank you so much for the pattern..I love it and cant wait to be done to show you. hugs Beth
Making me wanna stitch in mini too! Both new rugs look great!
Never counted my stitches, I'm afraid it would be disheartening. But I totaly agree on the relax affair; I call it my Zen exercise. The squirrel is a cutie :o))) Rosanna
You don't have to count every stitch.LOL Just count the edges both ways and multiply the two numbers.....Maybe you had better not....Maybe after you finish....
Rosanna, if I were working in the finer mesh like you do, I don't think that I would count the stitches either! In fact, I am not sure that I could see to count the stitches in the higher count silk gauze. Your work I sooooo wonderful! I love the tea cozies that you are making for the show.
Casey, I've done it. I've counted the stitches of my latest teacozy; it's not the exact sum cause it's rounded but it is more than 3,700 stitches. An average cushion is over 5,000. May be it was better not knowing it...
Oh Rosanna! You need to charge double for those! Maybe triple! They are really beautiful!
You are so creativ, there is always some new ideas to get here!
I´ve got an award for you to pic up in my blog!
Lena!
WOW! thats a lot of tiny stitches....bet you dont get anywhere near as many Thankyou's from Tessie for it either ---------> running and hiding from Tessie now LOL I'm loving the zebra one.
