OK. First the good news. I can actually walk from the door of my workroom to the desk. That's it. That's all I have that's good to report. Look! You can see the top of the worktable and the floor! What more could I ask for? Don't answer that.......
Now for the bad news...... I finally turned the Clockwork Cottage back around so that I could see what it looked like on the inside with the front roof in place. It's not good. I discovered that the brass tester bed hits the roof on the far side. Nobody could possibly get in the area to make the bed, let alone sleep in it, without bodily harm! When I put this side of the roof on it is going to look even more crowded. Rats!
There is just no way to make it look uncrowded. I fear that the space would be claustrophobic if Zar slept there. The other problem is.....Zar is about 6' tall. the bed is just barely 6' long. Poor Balthazar. He is going to have to sleep on the floor while I make a new one.
I have a couple of bed forms but they are both "full" rather than "king".
I put one in to try it out. It turns out to be more chase lounge length for Zar. If Beau gets up there, there is absolutely no way that the bed is going to work. I think that I will make a "custom" king. Longer, but still narrow enough that the room isn't filled with bed.
For a couple of seconds I contemplated operating on Zar to make him fit. He vetoed that idea before it even fully materialized. He's no fun at all! Spoil sport! He likes being the tallest person. Back to the drawing board. On top of a whole new bed, that means a whole new design. He isn't going to go for any of the girly ones that I already have made. He gets to lay around on the mattress while I do all of the work. I guess I should get at it. Hmmmm.... Gears and cogwheels here I come.
See you tomorrow.

Casey,
Before I got to the end of the post, I was thinking he needed a steampunk style bed.. I don't know the first thing about building in that style but with all I have seen and read here... It just came to mind. Can't wait to see what you come up with...
Tina
I can imagine a bed with hinges to lift it up and all sort of mechanical gears to adapt to the body. But I'm sure that you'll beat all of us! Hugs
I had always wanted bunk beds for my boys room but when I finally got them they would not fit under the roof of the room so I had to create a new bed with a low headboard. It was the first piece of furniture I made and I was quite pleased with the result. I am sure Zar is also going to be pleased that he has his own bed custom built.
As a 6' person myself... it's a common problem. Of course I LIKE to sleep with my feet hanging off the bed, so maybe it isn't SO bad.
Good news, award for Zar and Tessie. Bad news, same news :).
Come by if you please.
Casey what about making one of those beds that drops out of a cupboard or make one that's Steampunk from scrap metal..x
Don't you love it when something good comes out of an oops? :) The new bed is going to be even more fantastic than the last one!
