We Have a Floor.

I am still working on the real house today, so I am not getting a lot finished on the gazebo. I did the floor. I started with some wallpaper that looked like river rock. I didn't like it. Even more important, Tessie didn't like it. I tore it off of the mat board floor shape and started again. This time I have a diagonal lattice pattern with white squares surrounded by beige. We both like it better.

I found the price of the "river rock" paper on the back. Years ago I bought it at a miniature show.I am still kicking myself for it. I paid $2.25 a sheet for it. I knew that it was vinyl with a paper backing. It had raised stones and was interesting.....About 2 months later I went to a paint store, looking for free discontinued wallpaper sample books. We used to be able to get them by the dozens back in the 80s for free. I got them home and lo and behold I found the same paper in one of the books. It was about $8.00 a roll. That dealer was making money hand over fist by cutting up regular wallpaper and selling it by the sheet! It was a lesson well learned. I now check the bin with the rolls of discontinued wallpaper at all of the stores. A lot of times they sell the rolls for 2.00! Sometimes I get lucky and have enough paper for a hundred mini houses. You can see a scrap of the stone stuff at the right.

I used the neutral floor because I am going to put a rug in the center.(whether Tessie likes it or not!)

I need to put some more trim here and there and Tessie is being unreasonable.....She wants steps so that she won't have to climb up the front.

I am trying it out on a frame as a surround. This one won't do because the stairs won't fit. Maybe I can turn it the other way, but that won't leave much room for flowers. Maybe that's a good thing. Hmmmmmm..... I have to think on this for a while.

See you tomorrow with decisions made.
