At a Snail's Pace

I worked all morning on the rocks. I thought I finished the first side as far as putting them on. Then I looked at the photos I took. There is something missing. This is how I tell if I am on the right track. Somehow I can visualize the finished shop better with the photos.

The rocks around the window on the second floor don't look right yet. I think that they need to be more irregular and wider. They look skimpy, being only one course on each corner.

I added more to the front also. Not enough there either.

Right now I am trying to decide if I want the whole front in stone or not. I don't think so, but the puzzle is what to do with the windows if I don't cover the frames with stone.
I was watching Househunters International on HGTV a couple of days ago and they were in Tuscany, Italy. There was a house on there that made this one look downright traditional. It was built in the 19th century as a farmhouse and had been reworked a number of times. There were random patches of rocks all over the inside, as well as the outside of the house. I am not so worried about the random look of this anymore. The patches of stone on that real house made absolutely no sense at all!

I decided it would be easier to visualize with a bit of color on the stones that I already had on the building. I did the hippo gray mortar. I was right. The window wall needs more rocks or maybe some vines. That's it! Vine covered cottage.........Well...Then no one would see the rocks!
I definitely have more rocks to put on the front too. I just realized that I am only about half done with the rocks. Are there any volunteer stonemasons out there that need something to do? HELP!!!
When I was little we had some friends in Michigan that had a house that was completely built of smooth river rocks. I was always fascinated by that house. I kept thinking that if I could find enough stones I could build my own house. Well. That's the stupidest idea I ever had! There are not enough stones in the universe to cover this little shop, let alone a whole big house.
Can you tell I am coming dangerously close to my 6 year old's capacity for doing something more than twenty three minutes at a time? I am! I am stomping my feet and about to throw a tantrum! I don't want to play this game anymore. I wanna play something else!
I am done whining and I am going away to pout now.
See you tomorrow.

Hang in there, Casey! It's looking great. Maybe it is time to take break and work on something else for a few days. I know you have a few kits hanging around waiting to be made beautiful. . .
