Happy Mother's Day!

I found that I have no official Mother's Day miniatures to show you. Would you believe that the closest thing I have is Christmas? Merry Christmas!

This is a kitchen island that I did after seeing the ones that people made at an Arizona State day one year. I didn't get to go that year and was envious.
They were neat because every one was different. There were all kinds of themes. As I remember, there was a lot of country style at the time.
I had already made a lot of food for a Christmas dinner so I thought I would use what I had.
I always liked the Pennsylvania Dutch saying "Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without. That's what I did.
I had four porch posts in my stash. They were like the ones that people used in the one made at state day. I don't remember what else the ones from there had. I think that I came pretty close to what they had but I used what I had on hand.
The base that it sits on is one of those unfinished wood plaques that you get at craft stores. I picked up a bunch of them at a garage sale for a dollar. They work well as bases for scenes.
The flooring was left over from another kitchen project. All of the wood was scraps on hand and the drawer pulls were some that I bought for a rainy day......
The rug was made from embroidery floss. I braided it using the full 6 strands. In some cases I used several shades in the 6 strand bundle to make it look variegated. After I had LOTS of braiding, I glued it to a base of pellon. I started at the center and worked out. I changed colors at random, keeping them in the gold/yellow family.
The potholders are leftover tatting thread crocheted with a #13 hook. I just did a regular granny square pattern.
The towels are just scraps of muslin, linen and other fabrics that I had on hand.
The eggs in the basket on the bottom shelf are small white beans.
The food was all stuff that I had made when I first started doing Sculpey food. The turkey has a finish that was painted on and then glazed.
A friend made the punch with the candy canes. I had no experience with resin. The mashed potatoes are spackling compound.
As you can see, I have two of those cats that get into things. They both are always hungry,
While you all have a Merry Christmas I am going to go have Mother's Day lunch. See you tomorrow.
