Digging Out and Decisions...

I did a lot of digging out in the garden this morning.  Now I am just sitting here thinking about what to do next.

Digging out is still on the top of my list.

This house has been hanging on the bedroom wall for a lot of years now.  I am not even sure how many.

Every once in a while, I get a bug to work on it.  That lasts for a few days and then I start ignoring it once more.

Most of the rooms are small and won't hold a lot of 1/4" furniture.
Mini Tessie shows up every once in a while, but like her larger counterpart, she changes her mind daily about where she wants to live.

Yes.  The baby elephant is hers and she takes him everywhere... That can get kind of messy.  Maybe that's why she doesn't commit to one house...
Doctor Who parked his police call box in what was to be the dining room, Christmas before last...

It hasn't moved an inch.  Even in quarter scale inches...

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of this one and moving on to a different house all together in quarter scale.

All this one does is collect dust...
See? Dust everywhere!  About 25  years ago, I built a mansion from six cigar boxes and a rug tube.
Maybe I should go back to that way of thinking and do another one of those. It was a much more dimensional house and had deeper, more realistic rooms.

Maybe even a quarter inch cigar box castle.  I am having to think on this.  But while I am thinking, I am going to go see if there is something else that I could hang on that wall that wouldn't make me feel guilty...

Yup.  I think that I just solved my own problem.

I am going to go look for something to hang on that wall now.

See you tomorrow.

It Will Be Requiring Rewiring...

That was the only words in the note from Daisy.  I do believe that she is about to take possession of the cottage.  Lock, stock and barrel...

She was in a hurry!  She left the engine running. It's just a good thing that I rewired the time machine last night.

Wherever she was, she had the Ouija board with her and called for it.  I must have done something right with the wiring...
Thank goodness, Doctor Who didn't see her land.

He was still on the front porch.  Every once in a while, he pounds on the front door... That wakes Gordon Dragon up and he has to run for cover every time...

I believe that the rewiring that Daisy was referring to was the rest of the house...

I kept seeing a flashlight going from room to room.

And I do believe that I heard some heavy sighs.
Meanwhile Zar and Tessie came in and started investigating.

Tessie took one look at the still running time machine and tried to talk Zar into taking it for a spin...

He pointed out to her that the all important Ouija board was missing from the console.  It is useless without that.  It's going nowhere.
They came down from the roof and saw lights inside.  Unfortunately, Daisy was on the second floor, so they were unsuccessful in finding anything.
As quietly as she came she left. Spike just barely got out of the way in time! After she left I found a note, held down by a rock, on the kitchen floor... It said, "This had better be done in less than a week!  I shall return then."
I do believe that I have my work cut out for me.  I should have started earlier!

See you tomorrow, with hammer in hand!

Back to Normal... Kind Of...

I didn't tell you that a working 1/4" scale Tardis landed in the living room of the Tudor Wall House on Christmas Day... Mini mini Tessie has been banging on the door and yelling.  She wants to go somewhere... Anywhere... Just so she can say she has traveled with Doctor Who...
Speaking of which, K-9 the talking robot dog from some of the episodes arrived on Christmas too.  I think that April is trying to tell me something... She is a Doctor Who fan...
K-9 almost got into it with Spike.  The Terrible Two had to hold them back.  I think that Doctor Who and K-9 are going to have to find a nice peaceful place to be until I can provide them with a setting... Both are troublemakers.
Meanwhile, real life in AZ.  We are having a cold spell for the next three days.  I took in all of the plants, in pots, that were on the patio.  My family room looks like a botanical garden right now.

I couldn't take in everything.  I had to cover some of the plants outside.

One is the Burbank prickly pear that lives by our back fence.  We lost a few branches from it last year.  The tree beside it is just coming back, somewhat, from two years ago.  Our plants are not happy campers when it freezes more than one night in a row.

I couldn't reach the very top of Mr. Burbank, so he may loose a pad.  Hey! He's eight feet tall and still growing.  I want to keep him healthy.  It started with a couple of pads from April and Seth's plant.  They have a couple that are higher than their house! I imagine that those were planted many years ago... Their house was built in the late 1920s.

Anyway, I think that it's just about time to get back to mini-ing.  I have been fooling around long enough.

See you tomorrow.

Freak Out and Throw Things!

This weekend, I did some wandering... On the computer.  I wanted things to hang on the wall and books and magazines.

I put Steampunk in the MSN search box and then hit images.  That always brings up all kinds of things to play with.

I found a Sherlock Holmes poster from an early movie.  Now Daisy can either take it off of the wall or take a bath with Mr. Holmes watching over her.  Tessie doesn't seem to mind.

I found this poster for the "Great Western Air Ship".  Since the walls upstairs are all slanted, I am not going to get fancy framing things.  At least not until everything is in place.

I grabbed several other ones that would work either in Steampunk or in Daisy's place.

I saved them all in a file and then on one piece of card stock, I printed a bunch of stuff.

I first put them in my Printshop 15 program and re sized them to fit on the page.  You can do this with any greeting card program or whatever program you have that will do the job.

This bunch of Magazines came from one of my favorite sites.  Jennifer's Printables. http://www.jennifersprintables.com/ She has all kinds of magazines, posters, food packages and miniature wallpaper for the taking.  Great stuff.

The clock face, I got somewhere else.

I found the paper Tardis to put together just by doing a search for "Tardis images". It was supposed to be one that fit on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet.  I simply reduced it in all directions.

Everything that you see here was printed on one piece of cardstock.

My favorite thing is the poster that I hung in the kitchen.  It won't be seen unless you put your head far to the right and peak in at the left wall.

There are so many versions of the WWII poster... "Keep Calm and Carry On"...  I was looking for different versions, again on images.  I liked the one with the reference to "Big Bang Theory".  "Keep calm and Sing Soft Kitty".  But then I saw this one and thought that it made more sense than any of the others.

Hey!  The sign fits.  It looks like someone freaked out and threw things in the kitchen right now.  I have to stop typing and get to work on that kitchen...

See you tomorrow.

We Have an Intruder!

April and Amare showed up to help me decorate for the Wednesday Witches' Halloween bash this morning... A good time was had by all, but not a lot of minis were done...

When I was beading yesterday, Tessie found this glass vial that I beaded a couple of years ago...Now I am debating whether to use it for a needle case or should I find some way to wire it and use in on the tower platform?  I am thinking needle case.  The top comes off and it is already done.  I haven't gotten a lot further along on the one that I was working on yesterday.

Hey!  Finished is always good, as an excuse to stop working on yet another project...
Meanwhile, I went into the bedroom and found the Terrible Two plus Gordon, in an uproar.  It seems that they found things out of place in the time machine.

Gordon alerted them to the evidence of trespassing.  The rope ladder was not in it's usual place on the back of the house.  And the culprit was still on the premises..
Zar found the ladder at the opposite end of the house.  Rather than climb down, he decided that there might be trace evidence on the ladder and opted for climbing down the tree instead.

Good opt...

Once again, the Doctor is in... When he found that the time machine was still inoperable, he dug up a good book and decided to relax on the rooftop patio until the machine was running....

Speaking of running... I do believe that the Doctor will soon be running for cover.  The Terrible Two are not going to let him get away with it.  They saw the time machine first! They seem to think that they have right of first refusal on the theft...

I need to get in touch with Daisy right away..

Gotta run.  See you tomorrow!

"The Homeowners Association Is Going To Get You!!!"

I think Tessie had in mind an English country garden for the front of Daisy's Cottage...

The title above,  was the first sentence out of  her mouth this morning...

I went out in the back yard and grabbed a cup full of dirt and rocks..

And after a long search in the workroom, I found the railroad greenery I wanted..

Granted, it's definitely not a lawn that our homeowners association would approve of.  They like rocks, but just not this kind of rocks and dirt. And especially the unkempt greenery.

So... I just won't invite them in to inspect!

As soon as I am done writing this, I will keep plugging along until the yard is done...

At one point, I happened to look up at the time machine...

I saw the Doctor, trying his best to convince Gordon Dragon to fly away.  Thank goodness, it didn't work... And the Doctor almost got his eyebrows singed when Gordon turned on him... Needless to say, the Doctor quickly ran for cover...

Now that I know that he is still around, I am going to have to write to Daisy and tell her that she has two enemy camps trying to kidnap the time machine.  I am sure that she is aware of the popularity... And I am also sure that she has the Ouija Planchette well hidden in some remote part of the universe.  But I am still going to keep a close eye out for intruders.

I may have to threaten to make a list and give it to Santa if they all don't behave.  That's one good thing about this time of year... I can threaten to call the goblins out at Halloween and keep Santa from coming at Christmas... As a result, I have a couple of months where everyone is on better behavior.  Notice, I didn't say their best behavior... It's all relative...

Back to work.

See you tomorrow.

I Have My Doubts...

Would you hire this man to build your time machine?

I took one look at the title of the book that he was perusing and made a quick decision... This Doctor Who was not the right man for the job.

I quickly snapped a photo for proof that he was not really familiar with the workings of time machines and then very gently told him I would rather do it myself...
In case you couldn't read it, this is the cover.  It doesn't inspire confidence in it's holder.

I still like this Doctor Who... It's just that he is no longer the Doctor.  There can only be one doctor at a time... and he finally confessed that he didn't build the Big Blue Police Call box.  He had a huge crew of people to do that job.

He told me, "I am not a doctor at all.  I just played one on television for a few years..."  Then he wandered of in the direction of the nearest Big Blue Call box...

He's going to have a long walk, unless the present Doctor happens by.
Meanwhile, I am back to the original crew... My original crew...

Since "the doctor" didn't do anything but turn on the light... I am going to have to start again from square one...

The Terrible Two have set up shop in the tower... First I have to get them out and then I need to put a big old lock on the door.  Oh! And the doctor didn't even put in the windows.

First I have to expunge the Terrible Two and install the space hardened glass...

Back to the drawing board and my very own sonic screwdriver!

See you Tomorrow...

Who You Gonna Call?

Yup!  Doctor Who!  That's who!

He arrived yesterday afternoon.  Walter saw that I needed help, other than the Terrible Two.  So he brought in Doctor Who. Thank you Walter!

The Doctor arrived with a lot of his equipment in tow.

He immediately got the lights going in the tower.
He dropped a lot of paraphernalia on the dinning room table and immediately went to work.

I am not sure what an old candlestick telephone and a strange looking screw thingy have to do with a time machine, but those were the first things he pulled out of his bag of tricks.
He then went to work with some of the stuff that I have saved and was pleased with the pieces that I accumulated.

Some of the things that he pulled out of the pile are kind of scary.  I guess that we will just have to wait until he gets them put together...
Meanwhile... The Terrible Two are just biding their time... They didn't even bother to answer when they saw who was on the porch..

I think that the plan is to wait until he finishes the machine and then pounce.

I have news for them.  The first thing I had Doctor Who do, was to install a huge lock and put the bullet proof, time proof glass back in the windows.

I do believe that Tessie and Zar should have tried to make friends instead of being standoffish. The Doctor is in and he's on my side!  So there!

See you tomorrow.
