In So Much Trouble.....

Yes. Tessie went to Wednesday Witches mini meeting with me today. She rode in the Magic box.

When we arrived, everybody admired her new mode of transportation. My friend Ginnie peeked in through the window and Tessie immediately demanded that I put in privacy curtains before her next trip. How rude was that?!

Our hostess Sue, said that Tessie was free to wander around and look into the mini houses and room boxes. She kept looking and then running back to tell what she had seen.

After one trip, she told me that I wasn't the only one with unfinished houses in my collection. She found one that Sue brought back from England years ago. It is still unfurnished and no roof to boot. I had to laugh. Aren't we all guilty of that particular flaw? I don't know anybody that has every house in their collection finished.

Anyway, this is what got me into trouble. This one is finished.....

It's smaller than the kit that Kathi sent me, but it is finished....Yes. A travel trailer. Here we go again!

She ranted all the way home about how other people have finished trailers..."Why don't I have a finished travel trailer? Hey! I could be living in that while you finish the townhouse."

I knew that I should have called ahead and asked Sue to cover the trailer. Now I am going to have to listen to Tessie complain for the next week and a half.

I will not work on the trailer. I will not work on the trailer. I will not work on the trailer.....

I will hide the Magic Box. I will hide the Magic Box. Or maybe I will lock Tessie in the magic box and throw away the key.

That's the last traveling that Tessie is going to be doing for a while. It doesn't take much to teach me a lesson. Tomorrow I am going to go back to work on the Russian Cottage.

See you then.

All the Comforts of Home.....

Tessie is ready to go. We finished the Magic Box this morning.

The last addition was a carrying strap on the outside. I used some black silk cording, some pieces of glove leather and a couple of jewelry findings. I knotted the cording on both ends and tied an overhand knot in the middle of it. Then I cut the glove pieces about two inches long and 3/4" wide and glued them over the cording, to the side of the box. I put a jewelery finding on either side of the cord on the leather to act as "rivets".

As you can see through the window, Tessie is in place and refuses to come out now. She has everything that she needs and is trying to get me to go somewhere to try it out.

I told her that, if she behaves until Wednesday, she might just get to go to the Wednesday Witches mini meeting.....Bribery does wonders.

Here she is, placidly ensconced in her chair. She finally decided that older was better. This is one that I spray painted black and added skeleton upholstery to last year. It was really getting weather beaten and faded.

Notice that she picked out the perfect wallpaper for the back wall...It's actually fabric, spray glued to the foam core that added depth to the wall.

She likes this particular chair because it has a book pocket in one arm.....What more could a girl ask, when traveling?

A book in the pocket, some Oreos to munch on, a fan(the window is non opening) and a pair of field glasses to see far away things, close up......

She could ask for ALL of the comforts of home....And get about half.

She insisted on taking Spike....No dog carrier, so she opted for an old carpet bag. Spike seems to like it in there.

She also dragged in a small TV, a plate of sliced fruit, several bottles of mysterious beverages and a crystal ball in a basket. She even had the presence of mind to bring along an unfinished basket to work on if she gets bored.

So far she has only put one "non essential item" in place. The wreath above the shelf is one that I made years ago. Passion vine tendrils make a very believable miniature grapevine wreath. You have to form them while the tendrils are still green and then let them dry in the formation that you chose. This one is about 20 years old, so I know that they last.

Oh! She also pilfered one of my braided rugs to keep her feet warm.

I think that she is settled in for the rest of the day....As I said before, all of the comforts of home. Maybe I will actually get some cleaning done in the workroom today......Fingers crossed.

See you tomorrow.
