I went out window shopping for Christmas this morning... Didn't get even one present... I need a list!
I did find three books for 99 cents each that could get me into trouble. For years I thought it would be fun to try carving some Kachina Dolls.
The first book that I got was about Hopi Kachinas. It was still in the shrink wrap. Someone must have bought it and then decided not to read it.
The second and third are both on baskets. Those always get me into trouble... I want to drop everything and weave.
The real reason I went out, was to find wood for Tessie's Half Inch House... At least she thinks it's hers...
We stopped at Ace Hardware the other day. That's where I usually pick up strip wood. Someone had picked them bare. There was almost no basswood at all!
So this morning I decided to try the hobby shop, attached to Ace Hardware in town. One of the guys took me back to where the basswood was supposed to be... It also was almost bare! There is someone going around ahead of me, stripping stores of wood!
The guy that was helping me, felt bad and told me that there was a place called Hobby Barn less than a block away. It is hidden behind a very large bowling alley... I had to travel the length of the parking lot, cross the street and I was there...
I held my breath and went in. I asked to see the basswood. Lo and behold, they had tons! Not anymore. I am not taking any chances I got the big bundle that you see lying on the table in front of the half inch house. I did leave some, but not a lot of those three sizes. I am going to have half timber if it kills me...
When I got home, I went to look for Tessie and Oscar... I should have just went on about my business.
This is what I found. She seemed to think that having a potted cactus and a baby elephant in the bathtub with you is perfectly normal...
When I asked her what was going on, she replied, "I am communicating with my cactus... Oscar and the baby both have dirty feet, so I decided to kill two birds with one bath...
I don't think that is what was meant by the saying, but I just shook my head and told her, "Just make sure you clean up the mess after you are done..."
She looked me straight in the eye and said, "Don't be ridiculous! Everything will be clean when we are done.. Especially all of our feets."
I am not even going to dignify that with an answer. I made an apple pie this morning... I think I need to go eat that now and try to forget what is happening at Daisy's place...
See you tomorrow.

I know I shouldn't laugh but you have to admit what she said was funny :-)
Wow~! Homemade apple pie is the best. Store bought ones have too much sugar!
I'm intrigued by the Kachina dolls. I had to 'Google' it to see what they were. I do hope you have a go at making one.
