Downsizing...

No.  Not me... My friend Witch Joan called me from New Orleans this morning to make sure I was home... I asked why?  She explained that she is downsizing some of her minis and her husband was going to deliver something that she knew I would like...

This is it... I have been drooling over it ever since she found it in a thrift shop earlier this year...

She bought it and then never did anything with it, so it was a candidate for the downsize.

Lucky me!!!
I immediately started planning what to put in it. No.  Not the skeleton... The tiny live plants around him.

I am thinking of turning it into a living mini scene...

The plants in this bowl with mini George have all been living there for over two years!  So I know it can be done.  This sits on my dining room table.  It seems to do just fine.
This is another one that might work.  It's not one big plant.  Lots of little ones, growing together in one pot.

I forget the name and I didn't save the tag. It's some kind of slow growing succulent.
This is a Mother of Thousands plant... I call them Mother of Millions.  It seems more fitting.  The silly thing is growing all over my back yard.

Wherever the tiny plants land, whenever they fall off of the edge of the leaves, is where they grow.  I really like them...

They are a relative of the "Mexican Hat Plant" that is with George in the second photo.
Of course, as soon as I relocated the terrarium to the window in the family room, you know who showed up.

Tessie and Zar are now having tea and cookies.  They are making all kinds of plans for the new terrarium... I heard Zar say that they need a parrot on a perch.  To which Tessie replied, "And of course, we will need some reptiles... I have snakes and lizards... And Friskie, my gator will finally have a place of his own!

So much for planning.  I may as well start taking notes.  They are going to plan the whole thing.  I am just along for the ride!

Back to the terrarium.  See you tomorrow.

Hi Casey. That is an interesting terrarium! Why not have both a place for Tessie
and Zar and a place for plants. And all those desert animals Tessie mentioned.
Some of your succulents would look good made in mini size for my greenhouse.

Hi Casey,
Fun to check in and see what you've been doing! Love your live mini garden idea.
I've been thinking about making one myself. Been thinking about doing a lot of things but haven't done anything lately!
Hope you have a great 4th of July.

Phyllisa, it's almost a given that the Terrible Two will take over. I have a tutorial for making mini cacti and succulents back a ways on the blog. Just put cactus in the search box.

Wow! So nice to have a friend who thinks about you when they are downsizing and they know what you like. That's a really cool piece. I can't wait to see what you do with it.
