Saturday Play Day!

When I cleaned the shelves in the garage, I found these two oval plaques.  I have no idea what they were originally for.

I decided that they would make a wonderful experimental curved wall...

I got a couple of sheets of foam core from Walmart this morning.

I cut the foam core in a 9 by 13 sheet and then scored one side with an exacto almost to the other side.  Not quite.  I didn't want to cut the paper on the other side of the foam core through.

Then I simply fought with the foam core until it bent the way I wanted it to.  The back side is open where the slits are. I will cover those with a piece of scrap book paper or a piece of poster board, covered with fabric.

Anyway, the next step is to paint or stain the ovals.

Then on to the walls.

Tessie is thrilled with another couple of places to hang out.. Zar is putting in a bid for one, since there are two to choose from.  Poor Spike will go wherever he can get in. It shouldn't be a problem for him.
At the same time, I cut a couple of walls for the piece of tile that I found.  Nine by the width of the tile for one and a quarter inch larger for the second wall.

Now all I have to do is actually finish them and put something in them.  And then find a spot to put them in on one of the book shelves.

Back to work.

See you tomorrow.

Hi Casey. These Open Displays would be nice for small vignettes. I am thinking of
scenes I like to do for holidays and the seasons. At one time I wanted to do a
small scene for every month and I have a list of appropriate scenes to do. But the only one I did was "Pictures With Santa" on the dining room table. I had no box to
set the scene in. And since I like the idea of making the "box" fairly large, a
9 inch or 12 inch tile would work well. Thanks for the reminder.

Phyllisa, the bedroom that I just did is on a 12" real marble tile.i have been doing this for years. It's a good way to put a heavy base on a light weight project.

Hello Casey,
The curved wall came out beautifully! It will be a very interesting place to "hang out"
