Transformers....

Back to the mini world. Tessie announced last week that she was saving the white bedroom furniture for Spiderwort Manor.....Don't hold your breath, Tessie!

This morning she started whining and whinging about needing more storage in the bedroom of the townhouse. She scrounged around and found this old country style armoire. Then she started in with, "This is a good size, but it will need refurbishing. The white is ICKY. And I don't like all the slats and wood strips. Icky too. It needs to be black and much prettier."

What to do?

OK. Black paint, fabric to match the comforter and card stock. Check!

I started by roughing it up a bit with sandpaper. That white paint is tough. It is sprayed on the outside and hard to move.

Next, I gave the whole thing a couple of coats of black Ceramcoat. I can't say that it was fun. The white satin finish is hard to cover.

Then I made patterns by pressing in copy paper to all of the panels. I cut those out in card stock and trimmed until they fit. I cut fabric to fit with about 1/8" to wrap around to the back and glued.

I confess that I had to go back and touch up some of the black paint. I should have waited until tomorrow to do the fabric panels, but it has been so long since I actually did a real live mini project for the townhouse, I wanted to get it done in one sitting.

I am happy with the result and Tessie seems pleased. At least she isn't whining and whinging anymore.

Now she seems to think that I should be making her new clothes to fill it. Again, don't hold your breath,Tessie. One transformation a day is all I can stand.....

See you tomorrow.

  10. Iris, I only painted the inside black. No additions needed. There is already a clothes pole and four drawers. Instead of adding to the armoire, I am just going to stuff it with Tessie's things.
