And Tessie is egging her on.
I was putting the last of the Christmas decorations away this morning.
I took the minis from the Christmas tree into the workroom and was about to put this back up on the shelf.
Then Tessie started in. She sat on my left shoulder and whispered in my ear..."Santa doesn't need this cottage. We didn't even put it out this year. It just sat here in the workroom all by itself...".
She had a point. And it was looking pretty sad and lonely besides.
Soooo.... I got out the egg cartons and went to work making roof cap tiles. I don't remember what happened to the wooden ones that matched the shingles, but they were gone. All of them.
I decided that some slate tiles would be fun as caps to finish it.
Then I decided that it needed a complete overhaul....I know. I will get back to the hats, when the six year old leaves again.
I am not really sure what Tessie has in mind. All she would say is, "Trust me, I know what I'm doing!" That is my favorite saying when I teach classes. It usually works on other people when I say it....Maybe I should trust Tessie.
At least it will keep me out of trouble for a few days.
She insisted that I use the more of the egg cartons for a slate floor on the first floor.
For the second floor, she suggested some embossed floor tile paper. I am not so agreeable about that.
Maybe I can talk her out of that, before crunch time comes for putting it in.
She has also announced, "I hate red and green....Everything has to be repainted." I can agree with that too. And besides it will take a while to paint and that comes before floors.
Anyway, I think that it is time to get started, if I ever want to get to any other projects. I only wish that she would tell me what she has in mind... Of course, it is undoubtedly for her amusement. I am just going along for the ride.
Excuse me. I have to go get my orders from the
General Nuisance. Don't tell her I called her that. I want to live a little longer.
See you tomorrow.
Hi Casey. I'm glad to see you do bricks/tile/slate with egg cartons again. You are doing it just for me,right? Ha. Hopefully, this time I can work on mine at the same time as you.
ReplyDeleteWhat house is that?
Phyllisa
Phyllisa, That was a "Sweetheart Cottage. Greenleaf was the maker, I believe. If not it was a Corona. I looked at the Greenleaf site and it looks like they are no longer being made. I got this one at a thrift shop for $5.00 a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteHi Casey! It makes me happy to see the forlorn and the forgotten given a second chance at happiness. Tessie is right to bring this adorable little cottage out into the spotlight again.
ReplyDeleteThis should be lots of fun to watch how you make it happen! :D

Another interesting project to look forward to and we have Tessie to thank for that and of course the most talented lady who will do all the work! I love that little cottage. I think the unpainted look of the tiles makes it look story book like!
