"why doesn't Casey pad the foam ball out in the middle with paper-clay instead of carving the foam ball..."<br />So I thought I should pass that along! I am definitely going in a different direction now. Too much mess to be worth doing, when I didn't even have a plan.Caseyminihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16622994881661283282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-470571765534816029.post-7853476582737281682015-01-08T22:04:48.921-07:002015-01-08T22:04:48.921-07:00You can quickly make a custom onion dome in a shap...You can quickly make a custom onion dome in a shape to suite you out of foam. A drill motor makes an easy (but messy) foam lathe. <br />You don't have to start with a ball, a square of foam will do or stack up foam together in layers with Elmers if you like. Get a wood circle or small rectangle of wood with a hole drilled dead center middle. A small bolt goes through the hole secured by a nut underneath. Glue the foam to the wood having first removed a little bit in the middle to clear the bolt head. Put it into a drill motor. A coarse sandpaper covered paint stir paddle can be used to refine the shape of the foam. One hand on each end of the paddle for good control, heavy pressure not required. Strong, waxed dental floss can be used as a cutting tool to separate the foam from the wood.Karin Corbinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14558132883050492387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-470571765534816029.post-55401571942265314602015-01-08T19:33:07.539-07:002015-01-08T19:33:07.539-07:00Wow! Poor little Spike, he does look like he needs a nice walk. Walter does like his golf. lol!Lucillehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08216586118985900266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-470571765534816029.post-37664247419924559362015-01-08T11:07:08.063-07:002015-01-08T11:07:08.063-07:00I am wanting a short fat onion, Gail. T think that I am going in a completely different direction now.Caseyminihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16622994881661283282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-470571765534816029.post-19707562275486830932015-01-08T10:54:15.060-07:002015-01-08T10:54:15.060-07:00How about an egg shaped styrofoam?
