Botanically Speaking...

I went for a walk in the back yard this morning.

I have been being really nice to this thing that came up all by itself in the back yard.

I have no idea what it's called.  Basically it is a desert ground cover. It doesn't cover the ground very well. I use the term loosely.

I am hoping that the flowers on it will dry.  Another experiment.  If it works, they would make great geranium flowers in mini.

These, I pick every year, with the intention of painting them and using them for some sort of tulip flower.

Since I am doing the conservatory, maybe I will actually do some of the experiments this year.
I looked closely at the Rosemary flowers this morning... I they would dry, they look a LOT like mini orchids.

Since it is Wednesday, I will only have the morning for minis.  I am going to put a few of each flower in the magic crystals that dry flowers... We shall see what happens.
I found the tiny cactus coming up in the yard.  I have no idea what kind it is, but it is going to be taken care of, just to see what happens. It is smaller than my little finger by quite a ways.

The other one is a shoot off of a larger plant that I got at Walmart.  I doubt that it will stay mini, but I am going to put it in a tiny pot and not water it too much.

That seems to work on a lot of the mini plants.

Anyway, I have to get back at it and start the mad scientist portion of the day.

See you tomorrow.

  2. Hello Casey,
They are lovely plants. What great finds in your own back yard. I do hope the geranium idea works out...the ground cover plant is beautiful.
